EDUCATIONAL THEATER
A Child Left Behind - My Education in Autism
A Child Left Behind - My Education in Autism is a critically-acclaimed one-person play that takes a first hand look at autism, education, and every child's first teacher.
Hailed by the LA TIMES as, "Compelling... A first-rate education, Aymie paints a vivid portrait of life behind a teacher's desk..." This 55-minute solo presentation tells the story of my kindergarten-aged son's first year in school with autism spectrum disorder, and my last as a South LA elementary classroom teacher.
The event is a dynamic starting point for educators, educational students, and community members looking for evidence-based practices in supporting their neurodiverse communities. It can also serve as a fundraising event, as it has for such organizations as Generation Rescue, Organization for Autism Research, and GRASP.
